Set in a contemporary Los Angeles where super heroes and super villains come part and parcel with the interminable game of good versus evil, Born & Bred will chronicle the lives of MARCUS BIGGS and DAVID SOUL, two positive urban role models, as they navigate this dangerous field of play. Marcus Biggs' alter identity is Big Brotha, an afro-wearing, pimp-styling, muscle-bound badass whose reputation for dropping the enemy is rivaled only by his success with the ladies?think Shaft with a propensity for stopping bullets. This cliche of a superhero will be purposely framed as an incarnation of standard mythology so that we can demythologize the myth.
This will occur in the form of his estranged son, David. Having been raised by his mother and secreted away from the knowledge of his true lineage, David has grown up wanting what every inner-city, poverty-stricken child wants: a way out. His incomparable skill on the football field has lit the light at the end of the tunnel. He is less than excited, then, when Big Brotha shows up inexplicably near the end of his college career, after having disappeared from the spotlight years before, and informs him that not only is David his only son, but that David is inheriting the powers that Big Brotha is losing.
This father/son family dynamic will be the character-driven basis for this action-packed series, in which each man must come to terms not only with the new role that has been thrust upon him, but also with the man whom each now must lean so heavily upon. The role reversal will clash old-school versus new school, where Marcus Biggs, who aches for his times in the spotlight, must content himself to walk as a supporting shadow to the new Big Brotha, who wants nothing more than to be left alone to pursue his athletic dreams. Yet the world conspires to foist that which each wants most on the shoulders of he who least wants it?conspires via a host of dark villains whose lust for power and fortune are equaled only by their desire to destroy the legacy of the superhero that has always stood in their way.
